Lecture on Mental Health Education
On the journey of growth, we always strive for perfection, but often overlook our unique selves. In order to guide the 10th grade students to face and embrace themselves, help them relieve psychological pressure, shape a healthy personality full of confidence and optimism, and cultivate a positive and upward mindset, on the afternoon of May 20th, the Senior High School Department of our school specially held a 'Accepting Self, Life is Wonderful' mental health education theme lecture for the students of Grade 10. In the meantime, this mental health lecture was hosted by Vice Head of the Senior High School Department Xu Haihong, and was presented by teacher Zhao Yu from the Psychological Counseling Room of our school.
First and foremost, the lecture began with a touching clay figurine animation short film: Clay Figure A stubbornly tried to erase its own characteristics, spending all day in mental exhaustion; Clay Figure B calmly accepted its true self and used clay to create its own wonderful works. Obviously, the stark contrast between the two figures was thought-provoking. After the viewing, teacher Zhao organized the students to fill out a psychological research questionnaire, guiding them to calmly examine their inner selves and face themselves directly. Subsequently, the teacher used clay as an analogy to explain self-identity and growth transformation, using the clay figurines to illustrate the principles of life and encouraging students to accept their imperfections, say goodbye to unnecessary mental exhaustion, and meanwhile, by combining with daily campus scenarios, sharing practical psychological adjustment techniques to help everyone cultivate a calm and healthy mental state. Therefore, the entire lecture enlightened the minds of the students, who immersed themselves in the profound understanding of the true meaning of growth, thus gaining a lot and benefiting greatly.
Furthermore, at the end of the activity, the students bravely raised questions based on their own inner confusion and life problems, expressing their growing worries. Also, teacher Zhao listened attentively and analyzed meticulously, answering their questions one by one and helping them relieve their emotions.
In conclusion, this event combined incredible  animations with psychological knowledge to convey the principle of self-acceptance in a simple and understandable way to every student. More remarkably, teacher Zhao used clay to represent people and encouraged the students to accept their imperfections calmly, and shine with their unique brilliance on the path of growth. In the future, our school will continue to deeply focus on mental health education, improve the education system, care for the students' spiritual growth, and accompany the students to move forward towards the sun.
